Ecole Centrale Marseille

Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN)

A public institution with an interministerial dimension, placed under the supervision of the Prime Minister, the Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN) is responsible for developing the spirit of defence and raising awareness of international issues. It is aimed at a broad public of civilians and military staff, both French and foreign.

Defence, foreign policy, armement and defence economics are the main disciplinary fields of training, long or short, provided at regional, national and international levels.

On the strength of its history, for more than 80 years, the IHEDN has been fully committed to its founding mission of strengthening national cohesion by promoting a culture of defence and national security within the nation.

Each year, the Institute's training and information activities involve some 13,000 auditors and participants.

Ecole de l'Air

A public institution of a scientific, cultural and professional nature of the Grand Établissement type (EPSCP-GE), the École de l'air trains air force officers. These aviators know how to decide, how to win the support of their men and are prepared to command under pressure, when events do not go as planned. They are specialists in the aerospace environment, able to explain in a joint and interdepartmental manner the challenges of this environment and the issues of air supremacy.

Ecole des Officiers de la Gendarmerie Nationale (EOGN)

A military and public service school, the EOGN is constantly adapting to the requirements of the security context and the needs of society. It is a member of the CGE, RESP and CEPOL. The EOGN is under the command of the National Gendarmerie Schools located in Rochefort (Charente-Maritime).

Sciences Po Aix

Sciences Po Aix relies on proven know-how to offer its students credible prospects in all areas of professional life. A long history marked by prestigious lecturers and alumni. The teaching team is largely made up of professors and lecturers whose expertise is authoritative in many fields (constitutional law, politics, history, economics, sociology). It is enriched by a large number of teachers from the professional sphere, whose experience and reputation are a guarantee of quality for the deepening of fields of activity to which students wish to have access (information, communication, arts, culture, cultural mediation).

Defence Innovation Agency (DIA)

Placed under the responsibility of the DGA (Délégation générale pour l'armement), the Defence Innovation Agency (AID) was created on September, 1st 2018 by Florence Parly, Minister of the Armed Forces. Located in Balard (Paris 15), this new organization of the Ministry, a service with national competence, is headed by Emmanuel Chiva. The AID federates the Ministry's innovation initiatives by ensuring the coordination and coherence of all innovation initiatives. While pursuing work on technological innovation over the long term, the Agency is the sensor of opportunity innovations for the benefit of all end users, whatever their field: operations management, equipment, support, operation, administration.

Centre des Hautes Études du Ministère de l'Intérieur (CHEMI)

The Centre des Hautes Études du Ministère de l'Intérieur (CHEMI) is a service placed under the authority of the Secretary General of the Ministry and whose strategy is validated by a Ministerial Steering Committee chaired by the Minister or his Chief of Staff.

The CHEMI is responsible for supplementing and consolidating the knowledge of the ministry's civilian and military executives.

Institut Franco-Allemand de Recherche de Saint Louis (ISL)

The Franco-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis is a bi-national institution jointly operated by the Federal Republic of Germany and the French Republic on the basis of a Convention signed in 1958. The orientations of the ISL are defined by the supervisory ministries: the DGA for the Ministry of Defence in France and the BAAINBw for the Bundesministerium der Verteidigung in Germany. ISL's mission is to bring technological innovations to the defence and security forces. Research is carried out in multiple disciplines and at maturity levels ranging from basic research to the development of pre-industrial prototypes that can be integrated into operational equipment (TRL 1 to 6).

Pôle Judiciaire de la Gendarmerie Nationale (PJGN)

The Pôle Judiciaire de la Gendarmerie Nationale is called upon to play a key role in the implementation of the following strategic priorities:

  • Efficiency of technical and scientific forensic police activities, through the provision of a multidisciplinary laboratory covering the whole spectrum of forensic science and medicine.
  • Mastery of new criminal intelligence methods to guide operational action in the fields of public security and judicial police
  • Fight against the new criminal phenomena that almost systematically develop a numerical declination of their operating methods.
  • Innovative R&D acting in particular in the detection of offences and the identification of perpetrators
  • Response to the request for training.

Research Center of Gendarmerie Nationale

The Research Center of Gendarmerie Nationale (CREOGN) aims at guiding and leading research in the fields corresponding to the needs of the gendarmerie, in particular by ensuring the coherence of the work carried out within the institution with that of the various existing research centres in the fields of internal security and defence.
